Do you remember the hope we felt after the 2006 elections?

In 2008, we need new leadership to fulfill that promise and hope.

Endorsed by The Oregonian and Willamette Week!!

The Oregonian (4/26/08) said, "Democrats should opt for change and choose Hobbs .... [He] is vastly better informed and more capable of carrying on an intelligent discussion of the issues facing the nation and the district."

The Willamette Week (4/30/08) said, "Hobbs impressed us with his frank style and broad intelligence ..., favoring single-payer health care, rapid withdrawal from Iraq, ending torture and—this is an important one, where the Democrats have failed—“restoring Congress as a coequal branch of government.”

Why I'm Running

The current Congress has not been effective at reversing the dangerous precedents set over the past seven years. We must restore the Legislative Branch to its rightful place as a co-equal branch of government, and return our country to the right track.

Despite having the lowest ratings in recent history, the Bush Administration has successfully assumed enormous power, in many cases ignoring the Constitution which it swore to uphold. It has abused this power, weakened our economy, plunged us into a needless and costly war, damaged our moral standing in the world, eroded our civil liberties, and removed vital protections from our environment. It has done nothing to forestall spiraling energy prices and health care costs, rein in our out-of-control loan industry, or address the energy and climate crises we face. The gap between the rich and poor has grown, and large numbers of decent paying jobs have disappeared. These are all problems that affect Oregonians directly.

I believe we need new Representatives to energize Congress and reverse these trends. If our children are to have the future they deserve, a future filled with hope and possibility, we must tackle these problems head-on and with great energy and creativity. Time is short. I believe I have the right talent, energy and spirit for these challenges.

It's time for a Congress with a Will!
